Toronto, Canada, February 24, 2003 -

Advanced Chemistry Development, Inc., (ACD/Labs) is pleased to announce the launch of ACD/ChemPalm, which enables storing, browsing, and searching of sophisticated chemical databases containing structures and accompanying analytical information on any standard Palm® OS-based PDA. Up to approximately 20,000 structures can be stored and searched on a typical 8 MB PDA for convenient access.

Now you can store individual records or entire chemical databases on your handheld for the convenience of accessing the data in the future, regardless of your location. ACD/ChemPalm allows you to carry around and view structures, browse and search through imported records with the Slide Show option, determine an appropriate solution with the solutions calculator, assign atom numbers to chemical compounds, and share data with other ACD/ChemPalm users.

ACD/ChemPalm is seamlessly integrated with ACD/ChemSketch and ACD/ChemFolder, which provide a chemical drawing and data management system that assists scientists in organizing chemical structures, reactions, graphics, and other information. This integration allows users to import data fields from ACD/ChemSketch or ACD/ChemFolder such as structure, name, pKa, and other descriptive qualities into their PDA for convenient access.

Share knowledge and data with other ACD/ChemPalm users through the beam option, which allows a single record or an entire database to be transmitted via an infrared port to another handheld that has ACD/ChemPalm installed. ACD/ChemPalm's intuitive, easy-to-use interface allows for database navigation, enabling atom numeration and performing sequential searches by data fields and source lists. "Chemistry software has finally become mobile," said Antony Williams, Ph.D., VP of Scientific Development and Marketing at ACD/Labs. "Users of ACD/ChemSketch are now able to move their chemical structures from the desktop to their PDA with the click of a button."

Prior to viewing structures on a Palm OS-based PDA, scientists can organize and manage hundreds of separate files with chemical structures and reactions with ACD/ChemFolder. The data management software ACD/ChemFolder is used to compile user data such as chemical structures, complex reaction schemes, graphical objects, and textual notes into a chemically-intelligent interface to create and manage databases that can be transmitted to any handheld with ACD/ChemPalm.
