ACD/Labs donates site license of ACD/ChemSketch to the University of Stellenbosch
Toronto, ON, and Stellenbosch, South Africa, July 14, 2003 -
The international appeal of Advanced Chemistry Development, Inc.'s, (ACD/Labs) industry leading chemical structure drawing and visualization software cannot be denied. Initiated by Dr. James McLeary of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Stellenbosch in Stellenbosch, South Africa, ACD/Labs has donated a campus wide site license of ACD/ChemSketch. Dr. McLeary, being one of the 260,000 strong downloaders of the freeware version of ChemSketch, wanted the ability to share this pedagogical tool with the other faculty and students of this historic centre of higher learning.
ChemSketch is ACD/Labs' chemical structure drawing, molecular modeling, and visualization application. Written for the Microsoft® Windows (98, Me, NT, 2000, and XP) operating system, ChemSketch empowers you to draw any chemical structure from methane to Taxol and beyond. It is infused with helpful time saving features including 2D and 3D optimization, systematic IUPAC naming of structures with 50 atoms or less, and OLE linking to enable copying and pasting of chemical structures into other Microsoft applications. Additionally you can insert pre-drawn images, for example lab equipment, Lewis structures, and bond orbitals, into your drawings.
