ACD/Labs Online (I-Lab)

Technical Info

ACD/Labs provides the technology to bring software tools to the bench top. In addition to our full-featured desktop Windows programs, ACD/Labs Online offers a software platform to access predictions and database searches online through our web-based service.

Web browsers and Java based applications, as well as Windows client software connecting to ACD/Labs Online (such as ACD/ChemSketch), allow researchers worldwide to draw chemical structures, predict properties, and search databases on-line. Since ACD/Labs Online, ACD/Structure Drawing Applet, and ACD/ChemSketch are innovations from the same development team, the synergies are obvious and the learning curve is dramatically reduced.

Current options for chemical drawing include:

HTML Client

State-of-the-art I-Lab Java technology presents an easy-to-use chemical structure drawing interface - ACD/Structure Drawing Applet - similar to that encountered in the ACD/Labs standalone programs. In addition, several other Java applets allow interactive viewing of query results. These technologies, when delivered over the Internet, reduce the need for traditional client-server installations. Java technology provides a thin client while the ACD/Labs server provides the computational engine to perform calculations. Upgrades to the interfaces, prediction engines, or searchable databases, are performed transparently at the ACD/Labs server site. This approach greatly reduces the costs and problems associated with installation and maintenance of network server systems.

Another advantage of this option is that it no longer restricts the user to a single platform. With ACD/Labs Online (I-Lab), as long as a system has a web browser with full Java capabilities, the output is fully viewable. Since some corporate environments still retain a heterogeneous platform distribution, such an approach is of obvious value.

Windows Client

Our FREE PC-based structure drawing tool, ACD/ChemSketch, can also be used for accessing ACD/Labs Online (I-Lab). This approach offers familiar, convenient and reliable Windows interface with a variety of chemical drawing and import/export options, including the MDL molfile and ChemDraw formats.

ACD/ChemSketch freeware is well worth downloading. More than 800,000 users can't be wrong! We encourage you to make use of the additional benefits integrated into this package.

Account Management

ACD/Labs Online (I-Lab) software allows you to actively manage your account. Both ChemSketch and HTML clients include the following options for account management:

  • Access all information regarding your account status: subscriptions and transactions requested, total charges, paid and unpaid invoices, etc.
  • Print the history of your transactions, subscription orders, adjustments, and payments made since the account was activated.
  • Review the history of invoices and print selected invoices from the list.
  • Monitor the current account balance on the status bar.
