ACD/Dictionary
What's New
ACD/Dictionary version 11.0 has been expanded to include >2000 additional systematic and trivial chemical names for more than 29,000 structures contained within. The 158,091 names in Dictionary serve as a more complete record to help you search for, and successfully identify, chemical structures.
ACD/Dictionary, included with each copy of ACD/ChemSketch, has been expanded by about 15,000 trivial and systematic chemical names, abbreviations, drug codes, and registry numbers, as compared to version 9.0. This constitutes a 10% increase in the size of the Dictionary. The majority of the new names and structures are natural products and biochemical compounds reported in the literature.
ACD/Dictionary 10.0 contains over 29,000 structures and 156,000 associated chemical names and synonyms, with the corresponding molecular structures of the most frequently used chemicals and biomolecules classified by more than 200 therapeutic categories.
Larger database size:
ACD/Dictionary version 9.0 contains over 140,000 trivial and trade names, as well as registry numbers for about 16,000 chemical structures, including more than 17,000 names and 3000 structures over the previous version 8.0.
Enhanced search options and search speed:
The speed of the Advanced Search through ACD/Dictionary was substantially increased. Our tests indicate a 20-fold increase in search speed.
'Copy Structure with All Names' option:
This new feature allows users to copy a structure with all of its names from ACD/Dictionary to ACD/ChemSketch.
Increased Number of Entries
The latest version of ACD/Dictionary contains 13,000 of the most frequently used chemical structures, and more than 120,000 systematic and non-systematic names, registry numbers, and abbreviations. This is an increase of 17,000 names compared to version 7.0.
INN, USAN, and other marks added to names in Dictionary
INN (International Nonproprietary Names), USAN (United States Adopted Names), BAN (British Approved Names), JAN (Japanese Accepted Names), and other marks were added to the corresponding name in Dictionary, because it is important to indicate what names are preferred by international nomenclature organizations when referring to compounds.
Enhancements in ACD/Dictionary include:
- Increased number of entries. New version of ACD/Dictionary contains more than 103,000 systematic and non-systematic names, registry numbers, and abbreviations along with corresponding molecular structures of the most frequently used chemicals. This is 5,000 more entries than in version 6.0
- Choice of the database displayed in the Dictionary. If you are creating and using custom dictionary files, you can use your own data in the Dictionary.
- Ability to copy the structure with the name. Both the structure and the corresponding name can be copied from the ACD/Dictionary window to the ACD/ChemSketch window.
- Searching while taking the stereo configuration into account. ACD/Dictionary searches now take the configuration of chiral centers and double bonds into account. Previously, such configuration was ignored.
Over 90,000 (5,000 more than for version 5.0) total names, abbreviations, acronyms, and various registry numbers and includes over 10,000 CAS Registry and 5,600 EINECS numbers.
- Over 85,000 names, abbreviations, acronyms and various registry numbers, including over 9000 CAS registry numbers. The number of Dictionary entries has increased by nearly 40% over the previous version!
- A revised easy-to-use list of over 170 activity/therapeutic categories
- A redesigned interface
