The 5 Most Exciting Applications of ACD/Labs Software to Academia
Tricia Corrin
Abstract
ACD/Labs has a long standing commitment to helping academia by providing established and upcoming scientists with inexpensive access to the most current industry-standard software tools. Using ACD/Labs tools, students will gain experience in many of the software components they will encounter when they move into the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
From the freeware chemical structure drawing package, ACD/ChemSketch, to the powerful systematic naming tool, ACD/Name, along with PhysChem, and NMR prediction software, ACD/Labs has an unsurpassed range of expertise to facilitate academic research and make the teaching process interactive, memorable, and rewarding.
In addition, we will discuss the most exciting academic initiative to date. The Center for Chemical Methodology and Library Development at Boston University (CMLD-BU) has recently embarked on a large-scale deployment of ACD/Labs Automated Analytical Data Management System. Designed specifically for their open-access and purification workflows, this system will allow users at CMLD-BU to quickly form intelligent links between chemical structures and their spectra, chromatograms, and properties to create, capture, and store chemical knowledge.
