The Bleeding Edge: Building an Online Platform to Discuss Evolving Technology
Andrew Anderson
Abstract
From Wikipedia: "Bleeding Edge" is a term that refers to technology that is so new (and thus, presumably, not perfected) that the user is required to risk reductions in stability and productivity in order to use it.
Indirect Covariance, relative stereochemical determination, and automated quantitation are just a few of the bleeding edge features and workflows that are available in ACD/Labs software to date. While these features of the software are not widely used by NMR spectroscopists today, the hope is that this technology can be improved in accuracy, accessibility, and ease of use to the point where many more users around the world can benefit from this technology.
In this talk, we will take a step away from our mainstream applications and focus on the bleeding edge technologies that we are currently working on. We will also highlight plans to offer an online medium that will encourage communication and collaboration from users, researchers, and technologists around the world. This proposal will be discussed for the purposes of garnering feedback, opinions, and comments from the attendees. Please be ready to participate in the discussion.
