The Application of Web-Based Technologies for a Spectroscopy Based LIMS System, SLIMS.
Advanced Chemistry Development has utilized web-based technologies including Java-based structure drawing and spectral
display applets in order to produce SLIMS, a Spectral Laboratory Information Management System. This application
was developed with the needs of the research chemist and spectroscopist as well as the research management in mind.
The particular area of focus was to develop a web-based integration of sample, structure and spectral management.
By implementing Java applications and ensuring compatibility with Netscape and Microsoft browsers, the development
ensures platform independence for a Laboratory Information Management System that was previously only a concept.
Web technology has provided to the world an intuitive and graphical point-and-click environment for users to travel
through a world of complex information. This talk will discuss the development of a fully web-based LIMS system
as well as the many unique attributes of this system for addressing the needs for structure database and multi-technology
spectral database management. We are making the PowerPoint Presentation available as a web site or as a
222KB zip file download.
