Scientific Consulting Services
One in every four ACD/Labs employees is a Ph.D. scientist in the area of chemistry, including biochemistry, physicochemical or analytical chemistry. In the past 5 years we have published over 50 papers, and delivered hundreds of scientific presentations at major conferences. In the areas of systematic nomenclature, physical property optimization of pharmaceutical compounds, and analytical data interpretation for the purposes of structure elucidation, we offer unsurpassed experience. Our informatics staff includes experts from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry with wide experience garnered from the development and deployment of standard or customized applications. ACD/Labs professional services staff offer the highest level of scientific and informatics skills to enable delivery of the appropriate solution for your organization.
Our in-house scientific expertise is not only expressed through our innovative products and algorithms, but is also available to you on a consulting basis to complement our software. Such scientific consulting will ensure optimum use of our software solutions as applied to you specific problems and applications, and help you get the best possible value from our products.
Examples:
- A custom nomenclature service www.acdlabs.com/namingservice is available to help generate IUPAC names for complex or rare compounds. Naming is made in-house by our IUPAC experts and is covered by a confidentiality agreement. Two members of our staff are members of the IUPAC Division VIII committee for nomenclature.
- Derivation of solubility predictions were executed for a large pharmaceutical company using its in-house experimental data. The project offered the opportunity to reduce the need to measure solubility for 85% of the compounds that were estimated as highly soluble and highly insoluble. This allowed experimental measurements to be switched to measuring only the compounds with mid-range solubility.
- The need to migrate legacy data from a specific software platform that is no longer supported can be a common challenge. To date, our experts have helped a number of organizations to migrate their data from platforms such as MDL ISIS, Cambridgesoft ChemDraw, and Chemical Concepts into generic formats that could be imported to ACD/Labs tools.
